Tips for your Boudoir Shoot
Practice Your Pout – just for the fun of it! Actually, most woman look most comfortable when they aren’t trying, and actually smiling…
Hair and Makeup - Professional hair and make-up for your boudoir shoot is a must! It will make your boudoir session feel that much more glamorous! Even if you are a “natural” girl, you should at least wear fake eyelashes, foundation to even your skintone and lip gloss so that the flash doesn’t wash you out.
Panty Lines – For at least 2 hours before your session, make sure that you only wear loose fitting clothing – no tight bras or underwear. This will help to avoid the marks and dents often caused by elastics, clasps, etc. Please do this even if you aren’t planning on being photographed in your laciest or raciest…
Self Tanning – Sherry discourages fake tanning or spray tanning before a boudoir photo shoot. However, if you insist, please do so many days in advance. Lighting may make your tan look extremely orange in the photos. If you do not want tan lines, be sure to stay out of the sun prior to your session. No Photoshop magic will be applied to fill in tan lines.
Mood Music – Fill your iPod with music that makes you feel happy, feisty and playful and we’ll play it on our iPod dock during your session; if you don’t have your own to bring, please let Sherry know if there are any particular sounds and styles of music that you prefer.
What do I wear? – The biggest rule is to wear what makes you feel SEXY! Here are a few suggestions: Bring your favorite pieces of lingerie along with accessories – don’t forget the high heels and jewelry. Some of the most flattering outfits are a simple black corset. Sherry also suggest “boy shorts,” and killer push up bra at the very least. Want to be provocative? Go for lingerie such as corsets, lace thongs, teddies, and fishnet stockings. Remember you will be looking at these photographs for years!
How many outfits can I bring? – You may bring as many outfits as you would like ~ your whole closet, if you like! Time permitting, you may only have a chance to change once or twice in a 30-45 minute session.
Props – If your photos are going to be a gift for your partner, consider sneaking something from his closet into your session – a button down oxford, a work uniform, a hat, or something else special to them to create a sexy personalized photograph. Perhaps you love your cowboy or ski boots? Be creative and show your personality!
Retouching – Some Photoshop retouching may be done but this is on a case-by-case basis. Sherry’s goal is to photograph every woman and make her feel absolutely gorgeous and comfortable in her own skin without the help of Photoshop.
Inspiration – For the best photo session, come prepared…take a look at some lingerie catalogs, such as Victoria’s Secret or Fredericks of Hollywood, or magazines such as Maxim for examples of poses you think are sexy. Every woman visualizes herself differently for these sexy photo sessions, so please feel free to bring in a “tearsheet” from a magazine to show Sherry what you are visualizing.
